The F.R.O.G.S.

Picture
The Federation for the Renewal Of Group Singing, or the F.R.O.G.S., is for you if:
- You love to sing (but only when no one's listening).
- You love harmony singing (but you don't think you could ever be good at it).
- Singing with others sounds really fun (and really scary).
- A solo? Forget it! (Except you secretly dream about it.)

In F.R.O.G.S., we focus on a safe, supportive community and breaking through hang-ups into the joy of singing. We learn things like:

- harmony singing
- expanding range
- healthy vocal technique
- singing solos
- blending with the group
- performing
- taking vocal risks

Past F.R.O.G.S. incarnations have included songs by:
- U2, Gillian Welch, Mississippi Wallace, Dave Carter, Kate Wolf, Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, as well as spirituals, gospel and more

You do not have to be able to read music to take part.

"Amy creates a safe, fun and professional environment in which I have been able to take risks while discovering my voice. If you're looking for a singing group that is prone to silliness, soul-searching, and endless encouragement, this is the group for you."

"I had no idea what to expect walking into the MCT classroom for my first day of Chorus Frogs. My heart pounding, palms sweaty, I took a deep breath... and leaped. That leap changed my life - not only did I become more comfortable with my own unique singing voice, but I gained a powerful understanding of what singing is actually about: vulnerability, letting go, patience, acceptance and love. Amy is a natural and gifted teacher with an intuitive sense of the moment and a magical way of bringing out confidence in her students. If you love to sing, even if the only place you have ever tried it is alone in your car, F.R.O.G.S. is a safe and welcoming environment to nurture whatever it is about singing that brings you such joy."

"Amy had a profound impact on how I now perceive music...She taught us to HEAR music and we learned via aural perception... It was great to see how much each of us had grown in just a few short weeks. Amy Martin is to be praised in how she can coax the best out of all of us."
